Natick, MA
The town of Natick is located in Middlesex County, MA, about 10 miles west of Boston and considered part of the Greater Boston area. About 34,000 people live across roughly 15 square miles of land. Based on recent population growth, Natick is one of the fast growing neighborhoods around Boston.
The town was officially incorporated in 1781. Natick grew as a farming town until the invention of the sewing machine triggered the growth of several shoe factories. By 1880 Natick had 23 operating factories and ranked third in the nation for number of shoes produced.
Natick today remains a relatively small community consisting of several residential tract developments. Points of interest in Natick include the Bacon Free Library, which houses the Natick Historical Society. The Natick Mall is the largest shopping center in New England. Miles eight through 12 of the Boston Marathon run through Natick on Patriots Day every year.
