Framingham, MA
The historic town of Framingham, MA is located in Middlesex County, just about 20 miles west of downtown Boston along I-90. Close to 70,000 people live in Framingham, spread across a land area of about 25 square miles.
Framingham is older than the United States itself, officially incorporated in the year 1700. Almost 250 years later, during the post–World War II baby boom, a large amount of new housing went up in Framingham, consisting of mostly split-level and ranch-style houses. Framingham today features dozens of athletic fields and recreational facilities spread throughout the town. Many of these places were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the New Deal of the 1930s.
One of many attractions in Framingham is “Garden in the Woods,” a botanical garden featuring the largest landscaped collection of native wildflowers in New England. The town is also known for the Framingham Heart Study, the Dennison Manufacturing Company and MetroWest Medical Center.
